Using an airplane broker to help list your aircraft for sale may be a given for many people, but you may not always think to use a professional when it comes to purchasing your next airplane. Unless you're an experienced pilot AND know a lot about the CURRENT aircraft market, you may want to consider hiring some help. Frequently, brokers will be able to find you a better deal than you could on your own, and they can also help to make sure you're covered in all parts of the deal. A broker can also handle all the negotiating and paperwork for you.

Need more reason to use a broker? Consider this: In the past year, aircraft buying scams have risen tremendously. Scammers are copying legitimate broker's aircraft listings, listing them themselves for a fraction of the price, then scamming the buyers out of their hard-earned money. These people are asking for deposits to ensure that the buyer is serious, telling the buyer that the money will be safe in their escrow company, and instead the money goes to the scammer and the buyer never even sees the airplane! A broker will ensure that the entire deal is legitimate from start to finish.

A good broker can also help you save money by truly understanding the current used or new aircraft market. The aircraft you are looking at today may still be priced the way the market was a year ago. A good broker will know what the market value of the aircraft you are interested is today, and make sure you are not over-paying for the aircraft of your dreams. They can also help show you the best deals and help you avoid what may look like a good deal, but in reality isn't...

So, while it may cost you a little to hire a broker, it most likely will end up saving you money and headache in the end.
